Butterfly Bay Window

Hello my crafty friends.

When I received my Slide Mailers from Meg's Garden, I really loved the shape of the windows.
I had so many thoughts and ideas rolling around on how to use these little beauties, I just had to use one.
These are obviously designed to hold securely your glass slides for postage,
but I had a different purpose in mind.
Coupled with some beautiful paper from the Correspondence Collection
designed by Kerry-Jean Watson and some butterfly images, I created myself a little bay window scene.

Can you tell that recently I have been on a bit of a canvas and Mixed Media kick.

For this project I carefully separated the pieces of a Quad Slide Mailer, and slightly curved
the windows to create my bay window.
I then cut my sheet of Distressed Letter paper into little bricks.
To allow the bay window to pop, I dry brushed my brick background with a little Gesso.
I also die cut the leaves and flowers from paper from the Gentleman Collection.

10 Tiny Toes EVENT 2

Hello my friends.

Wow everyone, we had over 70 submissions for our first Not Just Cards challenge.
I think that is amazing. Thankyou to everyone who played along with us.
Your support is greatly appreciated by everyone on the Design Team.

Now that our first challenge is successfully wrapping up, it is time to share some new inspiration for our second challenge.

For my first project this fortnight, I choose to work with some darling Digi Stamps 4 Joy images.
I created this brag book with matching wallet.
I thought this might be a lovely gift for a new mother or grand-mother.

I used some Graphics 45 paper for the wallet and as matts for the tri-fold pullout.
For my front images, I have used an additional fussy cut layer of vellum
over my original coloured images. I thought this gave my wallet some softness.
I also gave my wallet small accordion sides, allowing additional images or ephemera
to be added by the recipient.

Charlie Fishing Post-it Note Holder

Happy Fathers Day to all my Australian friends.

And since today is Father's Day here down under,
I thought I would bring you my second Not Just Cards (NJC) Project.

My father-in-law likes fishing, so I made him this adorable little post-it note holder.
It could also be used to hold a little calendar, or maybe a list of important dates on the back.

I used an adorable little Charlie Fishing Digi for this project, and the base is cut using The Cutting Cafe's Calendar Holder template. I first created a cereal box board base, then covered this with American Crafts' Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party Fascinating Friends paper.
I just love this image with this paper. For the fishing line I just used some black sewing thread.

A Mother's Love

Hello lovely crafters.

Here is another lovely project to help celebrate the changing of the seasons.
This is also my first Design Team Project for The Mirror Crack'd.

For this piece I used a shadow photo frame, but I removed the glass before staining the front and sides (with the help of my 3 year old).
The back, inside back, and inside sides a covered with inked Prima Meadowlark papers.
The back is then covered with homemade texture paste in random areas using a stencil.
There is a chipboard frame and a number of meaning ephemera pieces.
I have cut out a mannequin from BoBunny's Cest le Vie line, and printed, cut and assembled a vintage needle case. There is a combination of May Arts and Websters Pages ribbons and trims, and a variety of Prima and Wild Orchid Crafts flowers.
There are even some Prima Resist canvas pieces in amongst the flowers.
I have used Kaisercraft Rub-ons in several places including the quote.
To finish, I used a variety of glimmer mists.

Please pop over to the Mirror Crack'd to view other inspiring pieces.
We are a new Mixed Media Challenge blog with having monthly challenges.
So come on, grab a paintbrush and get messy with us.

Ballerina en Pointe

Hello Everybody.

September is upon us, and in Australia, the 1st of September is the first day of Spring.

What better way to celebrate than to bring you my very first
Not Just Cards (NJC) Design Team project.
Not only is this my first project, it is Not Just Cards (NJC) first challenge.

For this canvas I wanted lots of flowers, elegant lines and a light airy feel that was still striking.
I found this beautiful Aurora Wings ballerina image just perfect. So soft and feminine
with long beautiful lines (and flowers of course).
After colouring her with my Promarkers, I added shimmer to her dress
(and shoes), her wings and her flowers.
I also added shimmer to all the die cuts and a little to the background.
I hope you love her as much as I do.
